Mediation in Family Law

You might be forgiven for thinking that attending a Mediation Centre is the only way to resolve your family problems.
Indeed, since the 6 April 2011 the government has put in place legislation, which prevents anyone starting court proceedings without first attending a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting and obtaining a certificate (at a cost) to say mediation is not appropriate. (There are of course exemptions.)

The Government’s objective is to encourage alternatives to the court.

These Alternatives are already available to you, and have been tried and tested by Lemon&Co and other Solicitors, for many years.
At Lemon&Co we have for over 10 years now promoted alternative resolutions (ADR) to family disputes.

Our “Round Table” approach is very successful, and here at Lemon&Co we have excellent facilities as well as well-trained Solicitors, ensuring you are confident that your personal matters are dealt with professionally and in total confidence.

Mediation and its alternatives for us means that we can offer you a choice. If you simply wish to discuss and resolve matters in an informal way we offer you this choice, enabling you, your wife or partner and those you wish to represent you, to meet together in a safe and controlled environment. However if you wish, we have at Lemon&Co trained practitioners in Collaborative Practice and we invite you to read about this in more detail.

So here at Lemon&Co Mediation means you are able to choose your way forward and importantly continue to make your own decisions.

This has been for many years now, a forerunner to the government’s legislation. You may therefore of your own volition, choose not to take your personal affairs to court.
You may prefer to have the help of professionals who have been trained not only in the law but also in mediation in its widest sense. We will help and guide you through the difficult times and the problems you now face.
The outcome will be your choice, which we think is much more satisfactory than having an order passed down to you by the court.

We will provide you with a personal service, which meets your needs, expectations, requirements and at a cost, which is affordable and within your joint budget.

We feel sure you will find our service a very worthwhile alternative. We are proud of our achievements and what we are able to offer you.
