Local businesses come together to raise awareness of Collaborative Law Week
Swindon businesses that assist families caught up in relationship breakdowns are coming together to raise awareness of collaborative law during National Collaborative Law Week 2010 as an alternative to divorce separation or court proceedings.
Swindon based law firm, Lemon&Co is hosting a presentation to businesses who deal in family and relationship breakdowns, from across the region to an event aimed at raising the profile of Collaborative Law Week. Collaborative Law Week is run by the national body Resolution, a family lawyers’ organisation, and takes place between the 24th and 28th January. The event highlights the benefits of mediation and collaborative practice, as opposed to applications to the court.
Collaborative practise is a process that enables partners who have decided to end their marriage to work with Collaborative lawyers and other professionals in order to avoid the outcome of Court and to achieve an agreement that meets the needs of the parties involved and their children, without the threat of contested litigation.
A reception will take place at Lemon&Co’s Swindon office on Wednesday 26th January where Collaborative family law practitioners will talk with professionals who assist in family breakdowns about the beneficial impact the Collaborative process will have on families and ways of working together in order to provide effective solutions.
Stephen Moss, partner at Lemon&Co commented: “Our family lawyer practitioners at Lemon&Co are all members of Swindon and Wiltshire Collaborative group which comprises specialist family lawyers committed to conciliatory practice in resolving matters arising from family breakdown. We very much welcome the opportunity of raising the awareness and benefits of Collaborative Practise, especially during Collaborative Law Week. We believe that by working together with other professionals in Swindon, we can build on our community and improve the services available to those who need it.”
The event will take place between 6.00 pm and 9.00 pm at the offices of Lemon&Co 34 Regent Circus, Swindon SN1 1PY.
